For the un-initiated, Intarsia is an ancient art form that unites spirituality and art in a way that had not been shown previously. For the many peoples that felt a kinship with animals, this was a way to feel as if they were being watched over, while not risking offending the sensibilities of those with differing beliefs.
Soon, Intarsia became a widely practiced art form, with many artisans taking credit for having "created" the manner in which many different, intricately carved woods were placed together on a solid wooden base.
